Ahead of the release of his series 'Showtime',
Emraan Hashmi
recently discussed the viral moment from the rapid-fire segment on
Karan Johar
's 'Koffee with Karan' Season 4.
When asked by India Today if he would change his approach for a current appearance on 'Koffee with Karan' given the social media era, Emraan Hashmi stated he wouldn’t. He explained that he doesn’t filter his comments and respects everyone mentioned during the Rapid Fire segment.
He emphasised that the show’s context involves making remarks in jest or spontaneously to win the hamper.
The actor also said that sometimes, someone can rub off a few people incorrectly. There's a tonality of the show, and that's where we went with a certain way of just enjoying ourselves. He remarked on the challenges of expressing oneself freely in today's social media environment. He noted that it has become difficult to speak as openly as a decade ago, citing the pressure from social media outrage and a prevailing woke culture that demands conformity.
He further explained that during the production of the show, there existed a mutual understanding among participants not to overstep certain boundaries that could potentially cause offense. Given that the show was produced approximately a decade ago, its tone may have differed somewhat from today's standards. The actor underscored the importance of considering the tone and context when participating in a show or any professional endeavor.
