NEW DELHI: The Enforcement Directorate carried out searches on Friday at premises belonging to Kerala-based businessman Gokulam Gopalan, who is amongst the producers of "
L2: Empuraan
", alongside other locations as part of an investigation into alleged
foreign exchange violations

The investigations, conducted under the Foreign Exchange Management Act (FEMA), took place at locations in Chennai (Tamil Nadu) and Kochi (Kerala), the sources confirmed. "L2: Empuraan", which serves as the sequel to "Lucifer" in a planned trilogy by the Prithviraj-Mohanlal team, has sparked significant discussions due to its criticism of

and references to the Gujarat riots. Following the controversy, Mohanlal issued an apology regarding the ongoing dispute and confirmed that the contentious sections would be eliminated from the film.
