arrived on Saturday at ED’s office in Ranchi to face questioning regarding
confiscation of a BMW car
, along with Rs 36.34 lakh in cash, during searches at former Jharkhand CM Hemant Soren’s residence in New Delhi on Jan 29, reports Sanjay Sahay.
Sahu’s appearance follows scrutiny from income tax department after searches on premises tied to his liquor business in Jharkhand, Bengal, and Odisha led to confiscation of Rs 351 crore in cash last Dec, primarily from his Odisha firm.
Sahu reached ED’s office around 11.30am and left after 9.30pm. He has been asked to return Sunday for further questioning.
JMM leader Soren asserted that he does not own the
seized BMW
, but according to sources, ED claimed to have uncovered a connection between the vehicle and Sahu.Soren was arrested by ED on Jan 31 for alleged illegal occupation of around 8.5 acre of land in Ranchi. He, two of his close associates, and Sahibganj DC Ram Niwas Yadav were among those interrogated Saturday.
