KOLKATA:
Karan Lal
’s all-round show helped Lux Shyam
Kolkata Tigers
outclass
Shrachi Rarh Tigers
by six wickets in the
Bengal Pro T20 League
at the
Eden Gardens
here on Friday.
Lal first picked up two for 21 as the Kolkata Tigers restricted Rarh Tigers to 117 for nine in 20 overs after putting them into bat. He then provided a great start with his skipper
Abishek Porel
as the duo put on 75 runs for the opening wicket inside the first 10 overs.
Porel hit a fine 50 off 43 balls as Kolkata Tigers chased down the target comfortably, scoring 118 for four in 16 overs only.
Skipper
Shahbaz Ahmed
once again played a lone hand for Rarh Tigers hitting 31 off 34 balls and was the last one to depart as wickets kept falling on the other end. As such Rarh Tigers failed to put up any meaningful partnership. Only Ayan Gupta scored 35 off 21 balls with the help of three fours and two sixes.
Besides Karan,
Sayan Ghosh
(2-24) and
Akash Pandey
(2-28) also impressed with the ball for the Kolkata Tigers.
Delhi Capitals wicketkeeper-batter Porel played some huge shots during his breezy innings hitting four fours and two sixes. The start provided by Porel and Lal put the side on winning path and although none of the other batters could contribute handsomely, it could not prevent Kolkata Tigers from romping home comfortably.
With four wins from six games so far, Kolkata Tigers are currently in the second spot in the points table with eight points while Rarh Tigers are in the seventh spot with four points, having won two from five games.
