NEW DELHI: Centre on Friday extended the lower import duty for palm,
soybean
and
sunflower
oils till March 31, 2025, which will ensure their availability to keep a check on retail prices. It also extended the import duty exemption given to
masur dal
(
lentil
) by one more year, till March 31, 2025. The lower import duty structure on crude
palm
oil, crude sunflower oil and crude soy oil was originally set to expire in March 2024.
The effective duty on refined edible oils stands at 13.7%, including a social welfare cess. Effective duty on major crude edible oils is 5.5%.
