Driver sought after man killed when car with no plates crashes on Staten Island: NYPD

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. (PIX11) – Police are searching for a driver after a man died in a car crash on Staten Island Monday night, according to the NYPD.

The crash happened on Goethals Road around 11:15 p.m. Police said a black BMW with no license plates lost control and hit fences, a utility pole and a light pole.

A man was found in the car with severe body trauma. He was pronounced dead at the scene, according to authorities.

Con Ed crews are working to restore wires that were downed in the crash, officials said.

Police believe this incident was a single-car crash, but are still looking for the driver and if more people were inside the car.

The speed limit on Goethals Road is 30 miles per hour.
