NEW YORK (PIX11) – Police say they’re looking for two groups of people who assaulted and robbed subway train passengers in Manhattan and the Bronx in the span of five days.
During the first incident on March 7, a group of five people approached a man on board a No. 2 train at the Freeman Street subway station in the Bronx around 9:45 p.m., authorities report.
The 23-year-old man was punched in the back of the head and had his cell phone stolen, according to officials.
Police released surveillance video of a group they’re looking for in connection with the incident.
In a second incident on March 12, a group of nine people confronted a man on board a No. 6 train at the Canal Sreet station in Manhattan just before 4:30 a.m., police say. According to authorities, the group punched and kicked the 28-year-old man then stole his cash and a debit card.
The 28-year-old was taken to the hospital with multiple injuries to his head, face and nose.
Police have released photos of nine people they’re looking for in relation to the report.


Despite the close timing of the two incidents, police say they do not believe they're related.
