The

Department of Telecommunications

(DoT) has issued a warning to the public regarding fraudulent calls from international numbers that are spreading false information about Indian stock exchanges. The

The telecom department has also instructed telecom companies -- Airtel, Reliance Jio,

Vodafone-Idea

and BSNL -- to block calls originating from these suspicious numbers.
In a recent post on X (formerly Twitter), the DoT alerted the public about these fraudulent calls that are originating from international numbers. According to a social media alert from the DoT, the recorded message in these calls advises people to sell Indian stocks before March 12. It further claims that the stock market in India (

Bombay Stock Exchange

and

National Stock Exchange

) will face imminent destruction.

In response to these malicious calls, the DoT release stated, "Individuals who receive such calls are advised to report them to the DoT at [email protected] or to their telecom service providers."
