NEW DELHI: Indian T20 World Cup-winning captain

Rohit Sharma

made a rare appearance at

Wimbledon

on Friday, seizing the opportunity to witness the semi-final matches featuring

Carlos Alcaraz

against Daniil Medvedev, and

Novak Djokovic

against Lorenzo Musetti.
As a

tennis

enthusiast, Rohit expressed his excitement at being able to attend the prestigious event during his time in London.

'I am a big tennis fan. Obviously, since I was in London, there was a good opportunity for me to catch up on the

semi-finals

. I was lucky enough to get in there and watch an exciting game,' Rohit told Star Sports after witnessing Alcaraz's triumph over Medvedev.

When asked about his prediction for the second semi-final match, Rohit acknowledged that Novak Djokovic would likely emerge victorious. However, he remained reluctant to pick a clear favourite for the Wimbledon final, stating, "I think it is going to be Alcaraz and Djokovic, that's my guess, and I don't want to say who is going to win (in the final). I would say, 'May the best player win.' I don't want to pick sides because I myself have been in that kind of position where people are picking names or sides. Whoever plays well, I am sure, will win the game."

Former Indian cricketer

Dinesh Karthik

was also found attending the Wimbledon matches on Friday.
A few days back at Wimbledon Centre Court, there was a notable instance when the announcer recognized the attendance of cricket icon

Sachin Tendulkar

.
Amid the wave of applause, Tendulkar was introduced to the audience as a World Cup champion and the leading run-scorer in cricket history, highlighting his significant achievements in the sport.
The Wimbledon semi-finals promised an enthralling spectacle, with defending champion Carlos Alcaraz and seven-time winner Novak Djokovic now vying for the coveted title in the final.
Alcaraz, at the tender age of 21, aimed to become only the sixth man to win the French Open and Wimbledon back-to-back.
Meanwhile, Djokovic sought to continue his dominance at the All England Club and secure his eighth Wimbledon title.
