LONG ISLAND, N.Y. (PIX11) – A Long Island woman was charged with animal cruelty this week after officials say she left her dog out in a snowstorm, officials said.

Jessica Zambrana, 30, of Brentwood, is accused of leaving her 4-year-old sheepdog out in the cold on Feb. 13, according to the Suffolk County Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.

Long Island saw heavy snow on Feb. 13 and the region saw temperatures as low as 32 degrees – and the SPCA said Zambrana left the pup out without food, water or shelter.

Zambrana was charged Monday and expected back in court on March 29, court records show.
