President Donald Trump has endorsed entrepreneur and former Republican presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy in his bid for Ohio governor. Ramaswamy officially launched his campaign Monday night near his hometown in the Cincinnati suburbs, pledging to focus on economic reforms, tax cuts, and deregulation.
"Vivek Ramaswamy is running for governor of the great state of Ohio. I know him well, competed against him, and he is something special," Trump stated on social media. "He’s young, strong, and smart! Vivek is also a great person who truly loves our country. He will be an outstanding governor of Ohio, will never let you down, and has my complete and total endorsement!"

Vivek Ramaswamy (born August 9, 1985, in Cincinnati, Ohio) is an American biotech entrepreneur who gained national recognition during his campaign for the Republican nomination in the 2024 U.S. presidential election.

His parents immigrated to the United States from Kerala, India, in the 1970s. His mother worked as a geriatric psychiatrist, while his father was an engineer and patent lawyer at General Electric. Ramaswamy was raised in Cincinnati, where he was born in 1985. His younger brother, Shankar, was born in 1989.
Ramaswamy earned a bachelor’s degree in biology from Harvard University in 2007. He then worked for a hedge fund, accumulating $7 million over seven years. While working, he pursued a law degree at Yale University, graduating in 2013. During his time at Yale, he met his future wife, Apoorva Tewari, a medical student who later became a throat surgeon.
In 2014, at the age of 29, Ramaswamy founded the pharmaceutical company Roivant Sciences. By 2023, media reports estimated that he had earned at least a quarter million dollars in personal income from the company.

They met at a party while Vivek was a law student and Apoorva had just started medical school. Apoorva approached Vivek, finding him the most interesting person in the room, but he lost interest after she mentioned meeting another ‘Vivek’ and walked away.
Later, they discovered they were neighbors and shared a similar upbringing, which brought them closer. Vivek later expanded on their story in an Instagram post, revealing that their first date took place at a well-known vegetarian restaurant in New Haven.

He recalled how he and Apoorva had carefully planned to start their family after she completed her residency. When they found out they were expecting, they were overjoyed and even began writing a journal for their future child. However, their happiness was short-lived. Just over three months into the pregnancy, Apoorva woke up bleeding, and they tragically lost the baby.
The journey to parenthood continued to be challenging. Their second pregnancy came with its difficulties, but they faced those struggles together. At the same event, he shared how Apoorva initially feared she had experienced another miscarriage, during her second pregnancy.
