NEW DELHI: Ahead of their clash against Delhi Capitals, Chennai Super Kings coach
Michael Hussey
had predicted that MS Dhoni will hit a six to finish the match.
And the former skipper made the Aussie's prediction come true with a stunning six off DC pacer
Anrich Nortje
on the last ball of the match.
Hussey had said in a video that was shared by the official X handle of IPL on Sunday: "My prediction for the last over of the match tomorrow is that MS Dhoni will be batting, the crowd will be roaring and MS Dhoni hits a six to finish the match."
The match was already beyond CSK when Nortje started the last over.
But nevertheless, Dhoni rolled back the years with sublime hitting that delighted the whole crowd at the
ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium
in
Visakhapatnam
on Sunday.
A
vintage Dhoni
smashed the first ball of the over through the covers for a four. The next ball was sent sailing over mid-wicket with a one-handed shot off a low full toss.
Dhoni hit the fourth ball of the over to the long-on fence hitting it over the infield.
Then came the last ball of the match and Dhoni got under the low full toss and carved it over extra cover to finish the match.
Dhoni scored 20 runs off the last over remaining unbeaten on 37 off 16 balls.
And though CSK lost the match by 20 runs, their fans were absolutely thrilled to bits as they had witnessed smashing hits by their icon and former captain.
Capitals registered their first win of the season over a dangerous team with great batting depth.
