Apple's Vision Pro headset is experiencing high demand, exceeding initial sales estimates. With improved shipping times and low return rates, Apple has no plans for an affordable variant. Vision Pro may be launched in various countries, including France, Germany, Italy, and Spain.
Apple’s Vision Pro, the spatial computing headset, is witnessing a
surge
in demand, defying initial expectations. Ming-Chi Kuo, the seasoned
Apple
analyst with a decent track record of accurate predictions, reveals that Vision Pro’s
demand
has surpassed Apple’s original estimates. While the company initially projected sales of 150,000 to 200,000 units, the actual figures have soared beyond 200,000 units.
In the United States alone, shipments are expected to reach an impressive 250,000 units by year-end, as per Kuo.
Pre-orders placed on January 19 faced
shipping
dates extending into early March. However, the production line has since ramped up, and Vision Pro’s shipping time has improved significantly. Currently, orders are fulfilled within 3 to 5 days, reflecting a harmonious balance between supply and demand.
Initially, there were concerns that some buyers might treat Vision Pro as a temporary experience, returning it within the 14-day window. There were multiple reports about users returning their Vision Pro for a variety of reasons. For some, it was a bit uncomfortable whereas for some the novelty may have worn off. However, Kuo’s recent analysis reveals that return rates have dropped to an astonishingly low 1%.
While rumours circulate about a more affordable Vision Pro variant, Kuo says otherwise. Apple’s focus remains on delivering an impressive, high-end
AR experience
, with no official plans for a budget-friendly version at this time.
The
analyst
also noted that Apple could launch Vision Pro on other countries ahead of WWDC 2024, which is likely to be held in June. The countries — predominantly English-speaking ones — that could see Vision Pro arrive are Australia, Canada, New Zealand and the UK. However, Kuo said that Apple has ben working on localising Vision Pro in France, Germany, Italy and Spain. There is no word on when Vision Pro could arrive in India.
