NEW DELHI: Two former business partners of MS Dhoni,
Mihir Diwakar
and his wife
Soumya Das
, have filed a defamation suit in the
Delhi High Court
against the former
Team India
cricket captain.
The plea seeks a permanent injunction and damages against Dhoni, along with various social media platforms and media houses, restraining them from making and disseminating allegedly defamatory statements.
The plaintiffs approached the high court to protect their reputation and seek damages, claiming that Dhoni, through statements and allegations, had harmed their image.
The defamation plea is scheduled for a hearing on January 18 before Justice Prathiba M Singh.
The legal action comes in response to a criminal case filed by Dhoni against Diwakar and Das.
Dhoni alleges that the duo duped him of approximately Rs 16 crore by not honoring a contract related to the establishment of cricket academies.
The criminal case, filed in a lower court in Ranchi, accuses the directors of
Aarka Sports
, a sports management company, of criminal breach of trust and cheating under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code.
The legal battle between Dhoni and his former business partners adds another layer of complexity to the ongoing dispute, with both parties seeking legal recourse to address their grievances.
