Cyclist injured in Queens by driver fleeing police: NYPD

ASTORIA, Queens (PIX11) -- A car fleeing from police hit and critically injured a cyclist in Queens Wednesday, officials said.

Officers stopped a driver on 31st Avenue and Crescent Street in Astoria around 4:30 p.m., authorities said. The driver then took off and struck a bicyclist in the process, according to police.

The cyclist was hospitalized in critical condition, authorities said.

A person was taken into custody, police said.

A video posted on Citizen showed a police vehicle and an FDNY truck parked in the middle of a residential four-way intersection in Queens.
