Dhoni achieved this feat in 2011 when he led India to victory in the ODI World Cup and also guided Chennai Super Kings (CSK) to IPL glory in the same season.
Now, Cummins aims to replicate this achievement after leading Australia to triumph in the 2023 ODI World Cup and steering SRH to the IPL 2024 final.
While Dhoni has secured five IPL titles with CSK across various seasons, Cummins lifted the IPL trophy once in 2014 with KKR. Now, as Cummins gears up to lead SRH in the IPL final, he eyes the opportunity to join Dhoni in the exclusive club of captains achieving dual triumphs in a single cricket season.
KKR, finishing atop the points table with nine wins, three losses, and two no results, secured a direct spot in the final by defeating SRH in qualifier one.
On the other hand, SRH clinched their place in the final by triumphing over Rajasthan Royals (RR) in qualifier two, showcasing their resilience and determination on the road to the championship clash.
