BHOPAL: A fresh

controversy

has ignited surrounding a

photograph

depicting a cheetah's leg purportedly wrapped in a bandage, sparking accusations of negligence and cover-up within the corridors of

Kuno

National Park in Sheopur district.
Activist Ajay Dubey, who asserts to have obtained the photograph through the Right to Information (RTI) act, has filed a formal complaint with the National Tiger Conservation Authority (NTCA), alleging a deliberate concealment of the incident by state authorities from the central regulatory body.

Dubey alleges that the incident involved a fracture in the right front leg of the first Indian born cheetah cub within Kuno National Park. Dubey alleges that the injury occurred on November 28, 2023, raising serious concerns about the transparency and efficacy of the local forest officers tasked with managing the conservation project.
He said NTCA was not informed of the mishap. Dubey has urged the NTCA to dispatch an impact team to Kuno National Park to initiate a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the cheetahs' injuries.
However, authorities at Kuno National Park have refuted Dubey's claims, denying any knowledge of the photograph circulating on social media.
