In a landmark decision for the global archery community, the

International Olympic Committee

(IOC) has officially added the compound mixed team event to the archery programme for the 2028

Olympic Games

in Los Angeles. This marks the first time

compound archery

will feature at the

Olympics

, making its debut alongside the existing five recurve events.
The inclusion of compound archery represents a historic milestone, as it is the first new bowstyle added since archery's reintroduction to the Olympics in 1972. The addition brings the total number of archery medals in LA28 to six, while maintaining gender balance and athlete quotas.
