. Through this collaboration, commuters will be able to buy tickets through Rich Communication Services (RCS) Business Messaging in a seamless manner.
For those unaware, RCS is an industry-accepted rich messaging standard, developed by Google, that is replacing SMS messages on Android phones. It provides enhanced capabilities of messaging as well as sharing of voice, video, documents and location.
With this association users will be able to purchase e-tickets for their journeys on the Maha-Metro Pune via RCS Messages on Android phones with version 5.0 and later.
“Metro ticketing through RCS Business Messaging will transform the way customers commute daily. This is a first of its kind ticketing solution developed and deployed on RCS messaging. Our development team in the RouteLab continues to develop and deploy unique customer journeys that facilitate easy access to services, saves time and reduces the load on infrastructure,” said Rajdipkumar Gupta, Managing Director & Group CEO, Route Mobile.

Here’s how commuters can book tickets
In order to use the service, users don’t have to install any separate app. It works within the Messages app on Android phones.
To use this service, users will need to scan a QR code (currently being shared by Metro staff at select stations) and chat with the official RCS account of Maha Metro Pune. They will have to follow simple instructions that include selecting their “From” and “To” stations and the number of tickets that are needed. Payment for the tickets can be made via their preferred payment method (UPI, Netbanking, credit or debit cards).
Upon successful completion, the user will receive the tickets as an RCS message in the form of a QR Code, which can be used as proof of payment while entering the station to start their journey.
The new RCS-based ticketing service is currently undergoing a Customer User Group (CUG) testing. Metro staff stationed at select Maha Metro Pune stations will facilitate the RCS ticket purchase journey by sharing QR codes with commuters.
