RAIPUR: A protest by scores of Satnami community members turned violent in

Baloda Bazar district

of Chhattisgarh on Monday and the protestors set on fire a portion of the district collector's office, besides clashing with policemen and vandalizing vehicles.
At least two fire tenders, several cars and two-wheelers and nearby property were set on fire and vandalised by the protestors who were protesting the desecration of their religious site on the night of May 15-16.
Chhattisgarh chief minister Vishnu Deo Sai has convened a high-level meeting with the state chief secretary and director general of police to discuss the situation and to bring the situation under control. The protestors alleged that the police were trying to save the real culprits who damaged the 'Jaitkham' in Giroudhpuri town of Baloda Bazar district and demanded a CBI inquiry into the incident.
CM sends team for inter-state coordination in UP accident

Chhattisgarh chief minister Vishnu Deo Sai dispatched a team to ensure better medical care for injured pilgrims from the state after a bus accident in Firozabad, Uttar Pradesh.
A bus carrying around 65 devotees from Chhattisgarh overturned on the Agra-Lucknow Expressway in Firozabad on Saturday around 3 am. The accident claimed three lives and left 40 passengers injured.
The Chhattisgarh CM formed a team led by MLA Prabodh Minj, which travelled from New Delhi to Lucknow. Its mission is to oversee the treatment of the injured and coordinate with the Uttar Pradesh govt. The team also includes residential commissioner Shruti Singh and other MLAs.
"The injured in the accident have been admitted to the District Joint Hospital Shikohabad and Firozabad Medical College for treatment," said the chief minister. He added that after discussions with the district administration, doctors have been instructed to provide proper care, and higher officials have been given necessary directives.
