Nitish Kumar on Monday launched the
Bihar Laghu Udyami Yojana
under which a
financial assistance
of Rs 2 lakh each would be provided to over 94 lakh
families identified
as ‘poor’ in the statewide caste survey report recently.
The CM also launched a portal through which an eligible person can apply for financial assistance.
Nitish said the state govt came to know that more than 94 lakh families are poor and need financial assistance.
“We have decided to provide Rs 2 lakh to each family so that they can start their own business or small enterprises. We have an aim to provide the financial assistance to all the 94 lakh
poor families
identified in the survey report,” he said.
He asked the DMs, who were connected through videoconferencing, to propagate the scheme among the people of all castes/ religions, so that maximum number of poor families can get its benefit.
‘State govt to bear expenses of the scheme’
“The state govt will bear the expenses under the scheme. The first term under the scheme is being launched for five years,” Nitish said and asked the DMs to work hard for its proper implementation. “The portal has now been open. Any eligible person can apply for getting the financial assistance till February 20. The applicant should be between 18 and 50 years of age. The applicant’s family total income should not be more than Rs6,000 per month. The selected beneficiary will be provided Rs2 lakh in three instalments,” an industries department official said.
