BROOKLYN, N.Y. (PIX11) -- Commuters had to wade through water Tuesday afternoon after a subway station flooded in Brooklyn.

In the video, New Yorkers are seen walking through a flooded hallway inside the Atlantic Avenue-Barclays Center subway station, some with plastic bags covering their shoes to keep them dry.

Crew responded to the incident at 4 p.m., to clear away the sewage, MTA officials said. The cause of the flooding was due to a temporary backed-up drainage system, officials said.

Subway service on Tuesday was unaffected by the incident.
