MANHATTAN, N.Y. (PIX11) – Over a thousand people on Sunday climbed the 104 floors to the top of One World Observatory Sunday to commemorate 9/11.

The eighth annual run, hosted by the Tunnel to Towers Foundation, simulates the route first responders and people in the stairwells faced during 9/11. And, it’s a fundraiser for the foundation, which supports veterans and first responders with mortgage-free homes.

The other big event hosted by Tunnel to Towers is a 5K race that happens at the end of September. The run will take participants from Brooklyn to the World Trade Center. Registration for that race is now open.
