Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) president Chirag Paswan on Saturday came out in support of actor-politician Kangana Ranaut, who was allegedly slapped and abused by a CISF constable at Chandigarh airport earlier this week.

"It is extremely wrong. I have always been a supporter of freedom of expression, and I am talking about both sides. Kangana put up her point, and she (CISF constable) could also have done the same thing. I have always said there should absolutely be no place for abuse, physical assault, violence in a civil society," Chirag Paswan said in an exclusive interview with IndiaTodayTV.

"If you (CISF constable) had an objection, you should have stood in front of her (Kangana) and firmly register your objection, made your point in a loud tone. Then it would have been more impactful. But to raise your hand at somebody like this, and I am not differentiating between men and women, but nobody has a right to raise your hand at anybody," he added.

Chirag Paswan LJP (RV) MP elected from Bihar's Hajipur, also talked about his meeting with former co-star Kangana Ranaut at the NDA meet held on Friday.

Long before they started their innings in politics, MPs Kangana Ranaut and Chirag Paswan starred together in a romantic comedy movie called ‘Miley Na Miley Hum’ in 2011.

Kangana Ranaut, who won the Lok Sabha election from Himachal Pradesh's Mandi, was about to board a flight for Delhi on Thursday when she was slapped by CISF constable Kulwinder Kaur for "disrespecting farmers".

The woman constable has been suspended and a First Information Report (FIR) has been registered.
