MANHATTAN, N.Y. (PIX11) --- A woman was found stuffed in a bag in a Manhattan apartment on Thursday after her children urged cops to do a wellness check, according to law enforcement sources.
Authorities found Nadia Vitel, 52, unconscious in her apartment at 206 East 31st St. in Kips Bay at around 4:30 p.m., police said. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Vitel's family made the initial discovery after the building's superintendent let them into the apartment, sources said. The woman's children were worried when they didn't hear from her since Tuesday and asked authorities to check on her, according to sources.
"There was a family here earlier that seemed upset by the situation," a neighbor told PIX11 News.
The NYPD is investigating her death. The Office of The Chief Medical Examiner will determine the cause of death.
