Child dies in vehicle near upstate NY apartment building: police

NEW YORK (PIX11) – A child died inside a vehicle in upstate New York Tuesday evening, according to the Monticello Police Department. 

Officers of the Monticello Police Department responded to a 911 call for a child in cardiac arrest. The child was found inside a vehicle outside the Sleepy Hollow Apartment Complex on Terri Lane, officers said.

Monticello officers, firefighters, and members of the Catskills Hatzolah EMS attempted resuscitation efforts but were unsuccessful. The child was pronounced dead at the scene by the Sullivan County Coroner, authorities said. 

Other details were not immediately available. 

The New York State Police, along with the Monticello Police and the Sullivan County District Attorney's Office, is leading the investigation.
