Child allegedly put into trunk of car in New Jersey town: police

WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP, N.J. (PIX11) – Police have asked the public for help after a witness reported seeing a woman put a child into the trunk of a car in New Jersey on Saturday.

The incident happened around 4:45 p.m. at the 600 block of Chestnut Street in Washington Township, police said. A witness told officers they saw a woman in her 30s with brown hair get out of a maroon Toyota sedan.

The woman was seen walking to the back of the car and helped what appeared to be a child between 7 and 8 years old get into the trunk of the sedan before leaving the scene, according to authorities.

The sedan was last seen heading westbound on Washington Avenue towards Pascack Road, police said.
