Chandigarh schools to remain closed till January 20.

The Department of School Education, Chandigarh, has extended the school vacations by another week. As per the information earlier, the schools were closed till January 14. However, due to extreme cold conditions, school holidays have been extended. The decision has been taken for the students till Class 8. As per the details, schools will now open on January 20, 2024. A notice has been issued for the same.
The notice reads, "In the view of the prevailing inclement weather conditions and to avoid exposure of the children to this extreme cold weather; there will be no classes in physical mode up to Class 8 in any government, government-aided and recognised private schools of UT Chandigarh till January 20. The schools may organise online classes for their students of these classes."
For students of Classes 9 to 12, school timings have been changed. According to the notice, for the students of Classes 9 to 12, the school shall remain open. However, the timings will be changed. The schools will operate from 9:30 am to 4 pm.
