“He is a true representative of the poor as he has done a lot for them,” an elated Bhagat, 58, said of Champai in Jilinggora, 22km from Jamshedpur.

Bhagat echoed the swelling tide of expectations in the village, in

Seraikela-Kharsawan district

, about better amenities once local JMM MLA Champai takes over as CM after the arrest of

Hemant Soren

Champai’s relatives are camping in Ranchi for the oath ceremony. “Let us see when the governor invites ‘Dada (Champai)’ to form the govt,” said Pradip Padi, an aide of Champai.
