Bystander shot on Upper East Side subway: NYPD

UPPER EAST SIDE, Manhattan (PIX11) – A 31-year-old bystander was unintentionally shot on an Upper East Side subway in the early hours of Sunday, police said. 

The suspected shooter was in an argument with another person on a northbound 4 train approaching the Lexington Avenue-86th Street station around 2:30 a.m. when he fired a gun but missed his intended target, according to the NYPD.

The bullet instead hit the bystander in the left hand, police said. He was transferred to an area hospital while the suspected shooter ran, police said. 

Police had not made any arrests Sunday.
