BTS member Kim Taehyung aka V released an unexpected announcement on June 26 [KST] -- his new release titled ‘Type 1’. The poster showcases a monochrome image of the artiste leaning against a wall.
Excited fans reacted to the announcement as they flooded social media with their reactions. One user wrote, "And he says chapter two is not about them being shirtless." Another commented, "As if we weren't dead enough by now. ~Thanks V." Yet another fan wondered, "Are we sure we're on hiatus??"
As soon as the poster and announcement released, many speculated if this was a new music launch by the BTS member. However, it was confirmed by BigHit Music, that it is a photobook by the musician that will capture his moments of complete rest, revealing his comfortable and natural self as he takes a break from his busy schedule to enjoy his time alone. The magazine version will be officially released on August 6.

On Tuesday evening, the poster and the announcement left many speculating if this new release is a music drop and has any connection with Jimin’s upcoming album, ‘MUSE.’ The speculations caught fire because Jimin has left out details of his fifth track from the upcoming album, and the title ‘BE MINE’ from it coincides with the lyrics from ‘Scenery’, a single by V.
“I still wonder wonder beautiful story/ Still wonder wonder best part/ I still wonder wonder next story/ I want to make you mine,” the text on the photo reads.
Back in March, V released his first single post-military enlistment, ‘FRI(END)S,’ entirely in English. This follows his September 2023 EP, Layover, released just before he began his mandatory service in the South Korean military along with his group members RM, Jimin, JungKook, Jin, J-Hope, and Suga.
V had previously confirmed he had several projects lined up for release during his 18-month absence, stating in December that he had “prepared a lot of things” for the period. “I will miss you so much,” he wrote, expressing his sadness at not being able to create new memories with his fans, the ARMY.
As a solo artist, V has charted four songs on the Billboard Hot 100, including ‘FRI(END)S.’ His highest peak so far was in 2023 with ‘Slow Dancing,’ which debuted at number 51.
