BEDFORD-STUYVESANT, Brooklyn (PIX11) -- A Brooklyn principal is seeking support from the community to help make prom dreams come true for seniors at her school.

Danielle Darbee, the principal of Brooklyn Academy of Global Finance in Bedford–Stuyvesant, also reached out to PIX11 News for help back in 2022 and 2023. PIX11's viewers helped make senior prom happen for them each of those years. The principal hopes the same can happen this year.

NYCHA CEO talks repairs, drinking water, and the future of public housing

Kilayf Griffin, 18, is a high school senior and a star student, according to Darbee. He has a vision of what his prom will be like this year; he wants a classic look.

Darbee said money should not be a reason students are unable to go. She said many of her students are from shelters and public housing and have parents living paycheck to paycheck, Spending $125 on a prom ticket can be difficult for them.

Darbee said the most pressing need right now is men’s suits. A GoFundMe page has been created to raise money.

The school's prom is scheduled for Tuesday, May 28.
