CONEY ISLAND, N.Y. (PIX11) -- A nonprofit group in Brooklyn honored one of PIX11's very own on Thursday.

Reporter Magee Hickey was among those recognized by the Grandma's Love organization. The group has been a force for good in the five boroughs for a decade.

Last night, they recognized the volunteers and donors making a difference in their communities. Including Gianna Solitario who was given the Young Philanthropist Award. The 12-year-old has raised over $3,200 for causes from animal rescue to fighting cancer.

Magee was off the clock but did not miss an opportunity to interview the group's founder about their mission.

At the ceremony, Magee said it is an honor to spotlight groups like Grandma's Love that improve people's lives and bring communities together.
