BROOKLYN (PIX11) -- The popular dance and music venue, Brooklyn Mirage canceled its reopening show on Thursday night with the possibility of Friday's show still to be determined, according to the agency's social media post.
Following the end of its 2024 season, the Brooklyn Mirage closed for renovations and was set to reopen on May 1, however hours before performer Sarah Laundry was set to take to the stage, event organizers cancelled the sold out show with an Instagram post.
"The venue is show ready and the New Mirage has been built to exacting safety, structural, mechanical and technical specification. However we were not able to meet the final inspection deadline," the post read.
Hours before Thursday's performance, social media users posted videos showing on going construction near the venue.
Organizers promised that ticket holders would be fully refunded for the cancelled show and assured that they would notify of any updates regarding Friday's performance.
"This isn't about construction, but compliance. We're working closely with city officials and will continue to be transparent throughout the process," the statement from the Brooklyn Mirage said.
PIX11 News reached out to City Hall for details on why the venue did not meet inspection standards but did not hear back by the time of publishing.
