THE BRONX, N.Y. (PIX11) – Several peacocks were spotted outside the Bronx Zoo on Monday, Citizen App video showed.

The video shows at least five colorful birds hanging out near a roadway.

A spokesperson for the Bronx Zoo said that the peacocks roam freely around the zoo, usually don't stray too far if they do leave, and are expected to return on their own. There are around 100 free-roaming peafowl at the zoo, according to the spokesperson.

"There is no escape," they said. "We are monitoring the situation and appreciate the public’s interest but ask they not interact with the birds."

Another free-roaming peacock, named Raul, wandered outside of the zoo last year. The bird perched itself in a tree before returning to the zoo, according to officials.

The peacock had also bitten a man who was trying to help corral it, according to witnesses.
