THE BRONX, N.Y. (PIX11) -- The family of a Bronx man is speaking out in hopes of getting justice after a deadly chance encounter between their loved one, Justin Lawless, and his girlfriend, Claretha Daniels, a migrant from Venezuela.

Police said after an argument, Josue Silva shot the couple in cold blood. Another victim was also shot but survived.

Given Silvia’s criminal history, Lawless's sister said the city should get a better handle on the migrant crisis.

“Simple words should never cause a life to be taken as brutally as it was,” she said.

Lawless was a father of three young children, loved by many.

The suspect, Silva, was arrested at least six times before, including on a gun charge, but has not yet been arrested for this crime.

Submit tips to police by calling Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477), visiting crimestoppers.nypdonline.org, downloading the NYPD Crime Stoppers mobile app, or texting 274637 (CRIMES) then entering TIP577. Spanish-speaking callers are asked to dial 1-888-57-PISTA (74782).
