Braving the heat, Texas crowd joins month-long Yoga Day celebrations

Amid sweltering heat, US residents from Texas and other adjoining states joined the

International Yoga Day

festivities organised by

Consulate General of India

(CGI)

The celebrations are also extending beyond Texas to neighboring states served by

CGI Houston

, including Arkansas, Colorado, Kansas, Louisiana, New Mexico, and Oklahoma.
The month-long event, taking place from June 2 to June 29 under the theme 'Yoga for Self and Society' is aimed to promote well-being and unity through various activities, including workshops, demonstrations, and collective yoga sessions.
An event was also organised on June 18 at Nasa's Johnson Space Center, by CGI Houston in collaboration with Nasa, Space Center Houston, and Rasa Yoga.

Iconic venues such as the Mahatma Gandhi Memorial of North Texas in Dallas, Congress in Austin, Riverwalk in San Antonio, and Houston's Nasa, India House, and Discovery Green hosted enthusiastic crowds. Experienced yoga instructors led sessions combining meditation, dynamic exercises, and revitalizing breathing techniques, fostering an atmosphere of renewal and community spirit.
"#InternationalYogaDay2024 celebrated by the Consulate in association with India House, Houston and various partner organizations at @indiahouse. Members of Indo-American community, consular corps and elected officials participated enthusiastically in the yoga and meditation session," posted the Indian consulate in Houston on X (formerly Twitter), commemorating one of the events.


"It is clear that Yoga has become a unifying force, bringing together people across cultures and backgrounds. It is gladdening to see the youth participating in Yoga sessions with such zeal and dedication," said Consul General of India in Houston DC Manjunath as quoted by PTI.
Yoga Day was celebrated in other states including Washington, New York, San Francisco and Chicago.
