Boy, 5, found dead in Bronx home: NYPD

THE BRONX, N.Y. (PIX11) --- A 5-year-old boy was found dead in his Bronx home early Sunday, police said.

Deneil Timberlake was found unconscious in the home on Bassford Avenue in Belmont at around 3:40 a.m., according to the NYPD. The boy's father called 911 and the boy was rushed to the hospital, but could not be saved, police said.

The child did not have any obvious signs of trauma, according to the NYPD. The medical examiner will determine the cause of death.

Police sources said the house was in disarray and it appeared other children were living in the home. The family has a history with the Administration for Children's Services.

The boy's parents are cooperating with the investigation and are not in police custody, authorities said.
