Boat explosion at NJ marina injures 2 people: police

OLD BRIDGE, N.J. (PIX11) – A boat exploded at a marina in New Jersey, injuring two people on Wednesday, police said.

The incident happened at the Raritan Marina in the Laurence Harbor area of Old Bridge around 3:20 p.m., according to the Old Bridge Township Police Department.

The explosion launched a 57-year-old Old Bridge man into the water, police said. Bystanders pulled him out of the water, and he was airlifted to a hospital with burns to his face and legs, according to police.

A 47-year-old South Amboy man was hit with glass in his stomach and arms from the explosion, police said.

The cause of the explosion remained under investigation, but police do not believe it is suspicious.

The marina was closed Wednesday evening during the investigation.
