A group of unidentified individuals on motorcycles opened fire at a parked car and attempted to set it on fire in East Delhi’s Trilokpuri area on Saturday afternoon. The incident occurred at approximately 4.00 pm, near Mayur Vihar.

According to the police, no individuals were inside the vehicle at the time of the incident. Six rounds were reportedly fired, and the assailants tried to ignite the vehicle using petrol. The car was found partially burnt from the inside.

Police officials responded following a PCR call reporting gunshots and an attempt to set a vehicle on fire. Upon reaching the scene, investigators recovered six empty cartridges, a petrol-filled bottle, a matchbox, and stones believed to have been used to break the car’s windows.

An eyewitness informed the police that around seven to eight individuals arrived on three different motorcycles. Three of them allegedly stopped in front of the car, broke its windows by throwing stones, poured petrol into the vehicle, and set it ablaze. The eyewitness claimed that when he tried to intervene, the attackers fired two shots in his direction and also fired into the air before fleeing the scene. They were heard issuing threats related to a monetary dispute involving a person named Sanjay.

The car is registered in the name of Sanjay, a resident of Trilokpuri. A handwritten note was recovered from the crime scene, containing threats and references to a financial dispute. The police are examining the authenticity of the note and the alleged financial dealings mentioned in it.

A case has been registered under Sections 109(1), 326(f), 125/3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), along with relevant sections of the Arms Act. Police investigations are ongoing to identify the suspects and establish the motive behind the attack.
