NEW YORK (PIX11) – It’s the age-old question, what’s the best Thanksgiving side dish? Well, New Yorkers ranked their top five for this year.
Campbell’s released the results of their annual State of the Sides survey for 2024. Although turkey is traditionally the star of Thanksgiving, 56 percent of surveyors said they prefer side dishes over the main course.
Stuffing and mashed potatoes came in as the top two dishes nationwide, swapping first and second place from last year’s rankings. Sweet potatoes, green bean casserole, and mac and cheese rounded out the nation’s top five Thanksgiving side dishes.
Similar to the nationwide ranking, stuffing also came in number one among New Yorkers, the survey found. Below are the other top five side dishes for the state.

According to the survey, side dish favorites differed slightly among generations with 59 percent of Baby Boomers voting for stuffing and dressing while 45 percent of Gen Z preferred mac and cheese.
