Beloved New York City crossing guard hit by taxi, returns to work

MANHATTAN, N.Y. (PIX11) -- A beloved crossing guard who was hit by a taxi on the Upper East Side in Manhattan in November is now back on the job.

Sonia Javaheri, 61, was working at the intersection of 96th Street and Lexington Avenue when a cab hit her.

Students from P.S. 198 and P.S. 77 flooded her hospital room with well wishes throughout her recovery. The PTA of those schools emphasized how loved the crossing guard is.

Javaheri’s first day back on the job was Monday.
