NEW DELHI: The tradition of the fielding medal ceremony continued in the Indian dressing room after winning the
T20I series
against
Zimbabwe
4-1 on Sunday.
In the first Twenty20 International, the youthful Indian squad struggled mightily with the bat, but they responded admirably to win four straight games. The inexperienced Zimbabweans fielded badly and their batters failed to apply enough pressure to the Indian bowlers.
On Monday, the Indian cricket broad (
BCCI
) shared a video on their official X handle of the fielding medal ceremony that had the coach of the tour VVS Laxman asking fielding coach for the tour
Subhadeep Ghosh
to come up and do the honours.
Before presenting the medal, Ghosh shared a video message of former fielding coach T
Dilip
who asked the Indian cricketers to aim to continue to strive for excellence in fielding.
The best fielder award went to
Rinku Singh
who was presented the medal by Laxman. Indian leg-spinner Ravi Bishnoi gave a stool to Rinku to stand on it and deliver a speech.
Rinku said, "First of all God's plan. Felt very nice playing with all, this is my fourth or fifth series, so it's very nice. I like fielding more than batting and I enjoy fielding a lot, even enjoy running a lot. My body doesn't open up if I don't run a sprint."
Team India's next assignment is against
Sri Lanka
away from home for three T20Is followed by three ODIs.
