NEW DELHI: England's wicketkeeper-batsman
Jonny Bairstow
recently shared insights into the significant influence
Kieron Pollard
has had on the
England cricket team
following his appointment as an assistant coach.
Pollard joined the England coaching staff at the conclusion of the previous year, tasked with a role for the
T20 World Cup
currently underway.
With all the group-stage games for England scheduled in the Caribbean, Pollard's extensive experience and familiarity with the local conditions are anticipated to be advantageous for the team as they aim to retain their title.

Bairstow lauded Pollard, emphasizing the former West Indies all-rounder's vast experience, deep understanding of the game, and his inherent winning mindset.
He highlighted that Pollard's comprehensive cricketing background, coupled with his success across the globe, especially in conditions similar to those in the Caribbean, adds an irreplaceable value to the team. Bairstow remarked in a pre-match press conference, "I don't think there needs much explanation when it comes to Polly. A wealth of experience, a wealth of knowledge, a winning mentality and a guy that's won all around the world that has grown up in these conditions, I think that wealth of knowledge and also that winning mentality is something that can't be replaced."
Pollard's tenure in T20 cricket is distinguished, having participated in over 600 matches, including being a key player in the West Indies' triumph in the 2012 Men's T20 World Cup.
"I think everyone will be going to him, that's why he's here, that's why the experience that he's got, like I mentioned, doesn't need to be explained too much more. The guy's done more than 99 per cent of people in T20 cricket all around the world. So I think his numbers speak for themselves," he added.
His role in the England setup is not just limited to strategy and planning but also extends to instilling a winning culture within the squad. Bairstow's comments underscore the high regard in which Pollard is held within the team and the cricketing community at large, reflecting on his potential to significantly impact England's campaign in the tournament.
The England team, led by
Jos Buttler
, had their opening match against Scotland abandoned due to rain. They are scheduled to play against their traditional rivals, Australia, in their next fixture. Pollard's involvement is seen as a critical factor in England's pursuit of success in the tournament, especially given the challenging conditions and the high stakes involved.
