LAKEWOOD TOWNSHIP, N.J. (PIX11) – Police are investigating after they say a baby was found in a vehicle in Lakewood Township, New Jersey on Tuesday afternoon.
Officers were called to the scene in the area of Fifth Avenue around 1:45 p.m. for a report of an infant in distress inside of a vehicle, according to authorities.
Emergency teams from Hatzolah Medical Services were already on the scene trying to give lifesaving aid to a four-month-old child, police say.
The baby was later transported to the hospital where he was pronounced dead, officials report.
Multiple county agencies including the Ocean County Prosecutor and Ocean County Sheriff are investigating the incident.
