NEW DELHI: Former
Pakistan
captain
Babar Azam
on Wednesday achieved a remarkable feat by becoming the fastest batter to score 10,000 runs in the
T20 format
.
Babar accomplished this milestone in just 271 innings, surpassing the previous record held by former West Indies star
Chris Gayle
, who took 285 innings to attain the feat. India's
Virat Kohli
is third on the list, having taken 299 innings.
Playing for
Peshawar Zalmi
in the
Pakistan Super League
(PSL), Babar needed only six runs to set the world record and successfully achieved it during the match against Karachi Kings. Notably, he is also leading the
PSL
side.
Babar, who missed the milestone by getting out on 68 in the last game against Quetta Gladiators, became the 13th player overall to reach the 10,000-run mark in the T20 format. It's worth mentioning that Gayle leads the overall list with an impressive 14,562 runs in T20 cricket.
