Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal - arrested by the Enforcement Directorate last night in connection with the alleged liquor policy scam - was produced before the city's Rouse Avenue court Friday afternoon.
Sources told NDTV the agency - which will formally charge the Aam Aadmi Party boss, who has been arrested weeks before an election - will ask for seven to 10 days custody.
Hours earlier, Mr Kejriwal's legal team withdrew a Supreme Court plea challenging his arrest; this was shortly after the top court rejected an identical plea by Bharat Rashtra Samithi leader K Kavitha - arrested last week in connection with the same case. The same bench that was to hear Mr Kejriwal's plea told Ms Kavitha she had to follow protocol and first file her appeal before the trial court.
"We are withdrawing petition here (from the Supreme Court) as it is clashing with remand. We will argue remand and come back here..." senior advocate Abhishek Singhvi told the top court.
