In the match against the USA, Singh's bowling was pivotal, taking four wickets for just nine runs, which played a crucial role in India's seven-wicket win. This victory marked India's third consecutive win in the tournament, securing their place in the Super Eight stage.
Singh's efforts were recognized as he was named
Player of the Match
. Beyond his bowling, Singh is keen on developing his batting, emphasizing the importance of being prepared to contribute runs whenever the team might need them.
"We are always learning, always trying to get better at all the skills, be it bowling, batting, or fielding, because you never know when the team needs those runs," Arshdeep said, as quoted by PTI, in the post-match media interaction.
Singh's determination to improve his batting was evident in a recent high-profile match against Pakistan, where he chose to bat at No.9, ahead of
Jasprit Bumrah
, after consulting with captain
Rohit Sharma
.
"Jassi Bhai (Bumrah) was supposed to go before me, but I just went in after asking Rohit (Sharma). They were surprised with it, but I told them, 'I will go up regardless of whatever you say.' I will go at nine because I faced the quickest bowlers in the last game. So yeah, that's the plan now. I am very confident about my batting. And be it fielding or bowling, you just try to keep getting better," he revealed.
Looking ahead, Singh pointed out the importance of adapting to different playing conditions as the tournament progresses, with matches set to take place in various locations including Lauderhill, Florida, and then in the Caribbean.
"If there is help in the wicket, we try to get early wickets and restrict them (opponents) to a low total and if we are batting first, we try to make as many as possible and give the bowlers good enough chance to restrict the opposition," explained the pacer.
