BROOKLYN, N.Y. (PIX11) -- Think your area has the best lawns and garden stoops in Brooklyn? Put them up to the test in the borough's friendliest competition.
The annual Greenest Block in Brooklyn contest is back and applications are open from now until June 1. Winners will be announced in August and can get prize money ranging from $100 to $300.
Residents can apply for nine award categories including Best Overall Residential Block, Greenest Storefront, Best Window Box and the Sustainable Practices Award.
The race hosted by the Brooklyn Botanical Garden is meant to promote streetscape gardening through block associations and community groups.
More than 50 residents have already applied for the 2025 contest. Competitors are encouraged to bring out their biggest and greenest plants, floral decor and artistic signage to get started.
