For many, the Lightning cable has become synonymous with Apple accessories.
However, the European Union's mandate for a unified charging standard has pushed Apple towards USB-C adoption, starting with the iPhone 15 series and now extending to AirPods Pro.
Pricing and availability
The USB-C charging case is priced at Rs 9,900 in India. You can purchase it directly from Apple's online store, authorised retailers and other select online platforms. The AirPods Pro (2nd-gen) with Type-C case are priced at Rs 24,900.
If you already own the original AirPods Pro with the Lightning case, you can now upgrade to the USB-C convenience without needing to replace the entire earbuds. Simply purchase the standalone case and enjoy the benefits of universal charging.
Having said that, if you you're comfortable with the Lightning cable and don't mind carrying it around, then the upgrade might not be necessary. However, for those who value convenience, future-proofing, the
USB-C case
offers a compelling option.
